Even better than the real thing!
WFPB Shamrock Shake Smoothie to the rescue!
Many years ago, prior to going plant-based, I always looked forward to the annual March release of a special St Patrick's Day fast food treat. The memory of this cool and minty "limited edition" treat rarely failed to draw me in & steer me right up to the calorie-dense & nutrient-poor drive through.
Thankfully, I've since come to my senses. While the original is designed to be ultra tasty and crave-worthy, I came to realize the highly processed ingredients it was made of weren't doing my body any favors.
There's a MUCH healthier - yet still delicious - Whole Food Plant-Based way to celebrate St Patrick's Day with minty flavor. This WFPB Shamrock Shake Smoothie shifts the old favorite to a creation that's even better than the real thing!

Please, please, please make this again!
When I made this WFPB Shamrock Shake Smoothie for the first time, a few years ago, my youngest child exclaimed: "Please, please, please make this again!"
It's been a big hit ever since!
So minty and so very flavorful while also being so very nutritious! It's delicious and sweet without being too sweet...and though I wouldn't say it's an exact "copycat," it's definitely reminiscent of the original.
This recipe is dialed in just right! It's full of health-promoting ingredients and is also free of the milk, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial ingredients included in it's more traditional counterpart.

Blending to smooth takes about 1-2 minutes in my high-speed Vitamix blender but may take a few minutes longer if you're using a regular blender.
FAQ
Blending for a bit longer and/or soaking (& draining) the pitted dates (& maybe even the hulled hemp seeds) prior to blending may be helpful to make this recipe more smooth when using a regular (non-high-speed) blender.
As opposed to juicing, smoothies contain all of the fiber & nutrients of the original ingredients. Smoothies are minimally processed and can be included in a healthful Whole Food Plant-Based way of eating.
Since the chewing step has been taken out of the equation with smoothies, it's easier to overdo the calories. If your goal is weight loss, you may choose healthful low-fat, nutrient-dense whole food plant-based smoothies from time to time but sip them slowly & enjoy over a longer period of time.
Yes! Absolutely! There is minimal taste difference when the butterfly pea flower powder is omitted. The color of the smoothie will simply be a lighter/brighter (less blue) green hue.
